One of our main aims here at the contemporary small press is to help small presses connect with their readers, and to help more readers find the books they love from small publishers.
That’s why if you’re a small publisher we want to review your books.
Please email email@example.com for details.
We want to let more readers know about all the quality books that are coming from the small presses in 2016 – the strange, the quirky, the experimental, the literary, the poetic, the debut novel and the unclassifiable. We know that if someone’s looking for the best new fiction, short stories, poetry and literature around, it’s likely being published by the small press: right here, right now.
So we want to help lots of new readers find what they’re looking for from the UK’s best contemporary small publishers.
This website has been set up as a hub to connect readers with small presses and small presses with readers (and each other). And that’s what we intend to do with it.
We’re asking small publishers to send us review copies of their new releases this year, and we’ll publish the reviews on this website for a wide range of readers to see. Books may be reviewed by staff or students at the University of Westminster, or they may be reviewed by readers of this blog who have joined our panel of reviewers. We’ll try to match the right books to the right readers, so that everyone gets the best deal and best experience.
Books will be reviewed by readers with a genuine interest or passion for the subject/style/genre, so that the reviews will be knowledgeable, informed and enthusiastic. Occasionally, we’ll mix it up a bit so that experienced reviewers get to read something new and unexpected – broadening the reading horizons of reviewers and readers of the blog alike. The more experienced our reviewers become, the more discerning they can be too, meaning that the quality of the reviews keeps increasing and the value of our voice in connecting readers to small presses becomes greater.
Mainstream presses don’t have any problems in getting their books reviewed and promoted to a wide readership. We want to take the first step in helping small presses do the same.
So, if you’re a small press with books for us to review, please drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for details and information.
We’d love to read your books!
Is there something you need us to know?
If you like the idea of using this website as a hub to connect with a wider range of potential readers and other small press publishers, you can also send us your articles, interviews, features, competitions, submission details or events to publish on the site for free. Please send any suitable content to email@example.com and we will do our best to publish it on the site for you (subject to editorial approval).
We want more people to read your books. If you do too, email us now.
